Breitling ProfessionalModels in the range include Emergency, Emergency Mission, Aerospace, B-1, B-2 and Hercules. The Emergency watch is technically the most advanced Breitling model-and is designed to save the lives of pilots and other aviators who may need to summon emergency services.
In a real emergency, the large button at the bottom right side of the case is unscrewed so that an aerial can be pulled out of the case to activate a miniature radio transmitter inside the watch. This transmits a signal on the international aviation distress frequency-but serious penalties can be incurred by anyone who misuses it. Its signal can be picked up by rescue planes and helicopters as far as 4000 km away. Once the aerial has been expended, it cannot be retracted-the watch has to be replaced. It has been used in genuine emergency and a police report confirms this- Breitling will replace the watch free of charge. Other functions of this remarkable timepiece include a chronograph calibrated to 1/1000 of a second, an alarm, a count-down timer and a second time zone indicator. Further Reading:
